Pairing wines and rice is probably the most fun of all. Rice has a fairly neutral flavor, pairing depends on the rice accompaniment. A risotto combines perfectly with young red wines or long period aged in barrel wines, as long as they are not too strong. A seafood paella is enjoyed with a rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, while a fried rice is more suitable for soft white Palomino wine, Cayetana or Sauvignon Blanc. Wine and meat rice soup can be perfect if we choose a wine of Medoc, a Somontano or a New York wine.
