Müller-Thurgau, or Rivaner, is a white grape variety that resulted from the cross between what we now know was Riesling and Madeleine-Royal, but which was thought to be Riesling and Silvaner. This cross was carried out in 1882 by Professor Müller, born in Thurgau, Switzerland. Wines produced with this strain are consumed young as varietal wines, and they have floral aromas and a flavor reminiscent of the Muscat.
