The Garnacha Tintorera
, also known as Alicante, or simply as Tintorera, is mainly cultivated in the Spanish regions of Albacete and Orense, and a bit less in Alicante. It has French origins, and it is found in Australia, Chile, the United States (California), Italy, Portugal and South Africa. The clusters are conical, short and medium, and have round grapes that are almost blue-black on the outside and coloured on the inside. This is why this variety is mainly used to provide colour to other wines.
