Description of Tomatin Single Cask 21 Year old 1994

Tomatin Single Cask 21 Year old 1994

  • Colour: A crisply clear, straw yellow colour.
  • Aroma: A light aroma that releases notes of citrus and gooseberry that evolve into pepper-spiced malty smells and butter.
  • Taste: Tropical fruits zest up the palate and enliven the tongue of its drinker. The malt of the whiskey pulls through the fruitiness and gives its taster senses of grain and fresh-baked bread. This fresh initial flavour shows its matured quality as it rounds out to a spicier palate of allspice, nutmeg, and brushes of cinnamon. The lemon pepper finish settles out the taste, leaving its drinker with a balance of fruity sweetness and awakening spice.

PRODUCER: Tomatin, one of the top malt whiskey distilleries in Scotland that was established in 1897, during the country's whiskey boom.

COUNTRY: The Highlands of Scotland, United Kingdom.

PRODUCTION DETAILS: This single-malt, Highland scotch whiskey was distilled in 1994 in a single bourbon hogshead. 21 years later, in 2015, the aged whiskey was bottled in exactly 259 bottles and sold to those lucky enough to crack a taste.

Drink the scotch neat or on the rocks to experience the full palate of this exclusive bottle. For cocktails, add a lemon squeeze and ginger beer for an upgraded mule. Can also try to spice things up for the holiday season by adding the whiskey to an eggnog mix.

Tomatin Distillery

The origins of whisky production in Tomatin are hard to be precise about - the formal distillery which operates today was established in 1897 but there is reason to believe that whisky production, albeit illegal, has been an important part of life in the area around Tomatin since the 1700s.
