Discover More About Our Products

When George Smith founded the Glenlivet Distillery in 1824, his whiskeys had no indication of age. Alan Whinchester, now Glenlivet's Master Distiller, wanted to pay homage to the founder of the distillery with this Single Malt, without any indication of age, who created the reference whiskey of Speyside.

Whinchester used the same ingredients and distillation methods introduced by George Smith: pure mountain spring water; selection of the best Scottish malts; original copper stills, tall and narrow to give refinement and elegance to the whisky; aged oak barrels and first-fill American oak barrels carefully selected according to their aromas.

As Alan Whinchester himself states, quality is the golden rule of Glenlivet Distillery.

The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve

4 /5

4 /5

- The exceptional character of The Glenlivet spirit is apparent even before the cask ageing process begins, a result of the unique lantern shaped pot stills we use at The Glenlivet. For The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve, skilful selection of casks enhances the signature fruity flavours of The Glenlivet with traditional oak casks being complemented by selective use of American first-fill casks to give a hint of creamy sweetness - creating an exceptionally well-balanced and smooth malt.
- Colour: Pale gold.
- Nose: Delicate aromas of citrus fruit, notably sweet orange.
- Palate: Sweet, fruit notes of zesty oranges and pears, with a hint of candy, toffee apples. Well-balanced and exceptionally smooth.
- Finish: Long, creamy and smooth.
