Description of The Glenlivet 12 Year old
The Glenlivet 12 Year old
TASTING NOTES:
- Colour: The Glenlivet 12 Year old presents a bright and vibrant golden hue.
- Aroma: A soft, clean noseful of spring flowers and summer fruits with light underlying grassy and nutty qualities.
- Taste: Fruity and balanced on the palate, creamy and medium-bodied with distinctive honeysuckle and pineapple notes. A warm lengthy finish with a citrus and vanilla flourish and incredible smoothness that invites you back for more. Complex, entertaining, and sophisticated.
PRODUCER: The Glenlivet distillery, owned by Pernod Ricard. After a few years of illicit distilling, in 1824 George Smith rode from the remote and isolated Livet valley to Elgin to seek the first legal distilling licence in the parish. In 1884 the company became the only distillers in the valley able to use the valley's name, by the simple and clever addition of the initial three-letter-word The. These many decades on, this Speyside dram remains as beloved as it was by King George IV and Charles Dickens.
COUNTRY: Scotland
PRODUCTION DETAILS: A classic and globally popular expression of The Glenlivet's signature style. After first maturation in traditional oak, further maturation takes place in American oak casks which creates the vanilla notes and gives it its distinctive smoothness. Mineral-rich water from Josie's Well helps to craft flavour during mashing and fermentation, while the height and width of the copper stills lend more character.
ALCOHOL: 40%
