The Antiquary is the result of a storybook quest to create the perfect whisky. In 1888, John and William Hardie discovered what they considered to be the perfect blend of fine and rare malt whiskies. They named their creation after Sir Walter Scott's Gothic novel of the same name. The story, which is filled with family secrets, hidden treasure, and ill-fated love, is the perfect namesake for this jewel of a blended whisky.
The Antiquary 12 Year Old is made out of a special blend of Scottish malt and grain whiskies. Each of the component whiskies in the blend has been matured for over 12 years. The blend is then bottled in The Antiquary's unique angled bottle with distinctive, jewel-like facets. This beautiful bottle truly makes The Antiquary 12 Year Old look as special as it tastes.
Light and delicate, this well-balanced blend will surprise you with its complexity. Both mellow and feisty at the same time, The Antiquary 12 Year Old is malty with a slight touch of peat and citrus. Oak and caramel tones come through in the finish. Pair The Antiquary 12 Year Old with cheese, chocolate, and fruit on the light side while pork or smoked meat pair well on the heavier side.
