You will like to know that…
Highland Park is a Scottish whisky distillery that was founded by Vikings. This island distillery, north of mainland Scotland, was founded by Magnus Eunson, who could trace his lineage directly back to the Vikings who first settled in those islands more than 1.000 years ago. He began producing his whisky at an unknown date, but was caught by the police for the first time in 1798, receiving a licence to distil legally in 1826, meaning that this company has more than 220 years of experience in its craft.
Located on Kirkwall island in the Orkney archipelago, this distillery feels the effects of both the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, since it is precisely in the location where these two bodies of water meet. With a large range of whiskies that are beautifully produced and presented, if you are new to the collection, the Highland Park 18 Year Old is a great place to start.
To begin, the bottle is covered with carvings inspired by the Urnes Stave Church, making it a gorgeous piece to have on display. Within the bottle, the 18-year-old single malt whisky itself manages to be as complex as it is harmonic. This award-winning spirit, aged in ex-sherry casks, is very aromatic with a long finish that will hold you over until the next sip.
