Glenfarclas is characterized by its flavor, with touches of sherry and fruit. These same traits have seen it awarded prizes such as the Best Sherry Cask Whisky (at the 2006 Malta Whiskey World Contest) and a gold medal at the Beer and Whiskey Festival held in Stockholm (in 2007 and 2008). In 1865 the Glenfarclas distillery was set up as a family industry and has preserved its traditions since the time it was founded. Its mission from the start has been to create a malt whiskey of the best quality following the typical practices used in Speyside, a powerhouse region in the production and sales of spirits.
