You will like to know that...

Bell's Original whisky has had the words "Afore ye go" written on every bottle since 1925. This famous saying is a friendly invitation for you to stop and have a little drink before you go on with whatever your plans may be. It is hard to resist such a hospitable bottle that asks you to enjoy it so politely! Bell's started its life in a small shop in Perth back in 1825 but it was not until the 1850s that the owner, Arthur Bell, began blending whiskies into his own special recipe.

The secret behind Bell's Original comes from its careful blend of whiskies from all over Scotland, of both grain and malt varieties. With whiskies taken from Inchgower, Dufftown, Glenkinchie, Caol Ila, and Blair Athol, this oak-matured product is one of the most popular blended Scotch whiskies in the UK. Each of these spirits brings its own personality and flavour range to the table, without which it would be impossible to craft the Bell's blend that the world has come to know and love.

Smooth and medium-bodied, Bell's Original has been a favourite since first entering the market. Why not give in to the bottle's invitation and try a dram? This is a versatile spirit that is great on its own or mixed into the cocktail of your choosing.

Bell's Original 1L

TASTING NOTES:

  • Colour: A tawny golden brown
  • Aroma: A soft and pleasant bouquet with a core of malted barley decorated with notes of fresh flowers and verdant herbs, cereals, grains, and a touch of honey
  • Taste: Opens with a remarkably smooth texture and medium body. Delicious savoury flavours of grist and barley alongside toasted oak wood, nut oils, and spice with just a hint of peat. The finish is relatively short with a smoky bittersweet aftertaste. Bell's Original 1L can be enjoyed neat or over ice, but its subtle flavour profile is best complemented by a splash of coke or lemonade.

PRODUCER: Bell's. The distillery is named for the whiskey merchant Arthur Bell, a native of Perthshire, who had the idea in 1850 that several whiskeys blended together could appeal to more palates than an unmixed whiskey. Today, Bell's offers over 35 different kinds of whiskeys and has a strong reputation for excellence. Bell's Original 1L is currently the 10th best-selling blended Scotch whiskey worldwide.

COUNTRY: Scotland

PRODUCTION DETAILS: Bell's Original 1L is a blended scotch whiskey. The base ingredient of the blend is Blair Athol, while the Speyside malt of Dufftown and the Lowlander Glenkinchie and a touch of Caol Ila from Islay add depth and character to the final mixture. Since 1994, all whiskeys by Bell's have been matured in oak barrels for 8 years.

"Afore ye go": the famous saying that's on every bottle of Bell's Blended Scotch Whisky. And although the literal meaning is 'Before you go', what we're really saying is 'Stay a little a longer and share a dram'. After all when you've got good friends, good whisky and good tales to tell why cut...
