Ballantine's 3L3L Volume
You will like to know that…
Ballantine's history dates back to 1827, when farmer George Ballantine opened a small warehouse in Edinburgh and began supplying a wide range of whisky to a distinguished clientele. Ballantine's Finest is the oldest recipe - invented in 1910 - of the current range. This blend is made from over 40 carefully selected malts and cereals from all over Scotland.
Ballantine's is appreciated for its balanced, harmonious, elegant and powerful taste. Its colour and aromas are reminiscent of honey, to which delicious notes of chocolate, vanilla, red apples and spices are added. The recipe for this Blended Scotch Whisky, however, is only known by its Master Distiller!
A little curiosity: each bottle of Ballantine's bears the family's elaborate heraldic coat of arms, consisting of the flag of Scotland and the 4 elements necessary to produce the whisky, namely earth, fire, water and air.
Description of Ballantine's 3L
- Color: Soft golden color with sparkling reflections.
- Aroma: Rich and generous aromas of toffee, spices and wood accompanied by discreet notes of candied orange and smoke.
- Taste: The attack is quite discreet and the palate develops little by little on tasty notes of chocolate, vanilla, salted butter, caramel and candied fruit. The finish is persistent and floral.
PRODUCER: George Ballantine and Son
As was often the case at the time, George Ballantine entered the world of spirits by opening a wine and spirits distribution business, and only sometimes he created some blends for his clients. In 1910 the company who would later become one of the best known and best-selling whisky brands in the world, was born. One of the keys to its success was the bottle design, adopted during Prohibition, which allowed businessmen to easily slip a bottle into their briefcase.
PRODUCTION DETAILS: Although the brand is now owned by the Pernod-Ricard group, it has managed to maintain its specificity and all its original qualities. This is thanks, in particular, to the extraordinary longevity of its Master Distillers, the only ones who know the secret of this Scotch composed of 40 different whiskies and aged for at least 3 years in American oak barrels.
Ballantine's is one of the most popular brands of Blended Scotch Whiskies, the second best selling in the world. The blend at the base of the brand's products is composed of 50 Single Malts - of which the "soul" are those coming from the Miltonduff and Glenburgie distilleries - and 4 Grain Whiskies, which together create a quality and extremely versatile drink.More about the Winery
