You will like to know that…
Did you know that the word "whisky" comes from the mispronouncing of the Scottish Gaelic word "uisge-beatha", or "water of life"?
"Stay true to your origins for excellent results", these are the famous words of George Ballantine, founder of the famous distillery Ballantine. And the production of his products has always been faithful to his homeland. This Ballantine's 12 Years , in fact, is made from a mixture of malt whisky and cereals from all over Scotland, aged for at least 12 years in oak barrels to absorb the colour and aroma.
A good 12 years is needed for this Blended Scotch Whisky to take on the tonality, taste and velvety qualities of honey. A lot of patience is also needed to produce this whisky, but the result is really worth the wait.
Description of Ballantine's 12 Years
Ballantine's 12 Years
- Colour: Ballantine's 12 Years has a warm, golden honey appearance.
- Aroma: Apple pie with vanilla ice cream and some sherried oak notes.
- Taste: Smooth and delicious, with floral, oak, orchard fruit, and sherry notes becoming creamy fudge shop flavours, into a satisfying and smokier finish.
PRODUCER: Ballantine's was founded in 1827 when George Ballantine was just nineteen. All these years later, with its recipes having become wildly successful and popular across the globe, this producer stays true to its original vision, that staying true itself creates excellence. The distinctive square Ballantine's bottles were introduced during prohibition, to make them easier to smuggle, but nowadays you can be proud to enjoy these aged and blended whiskies openly.
COUNTRY: United Kingdom
PRODUCTION DETAILS: Ballantine's 12 Years is a beautiful blend of malt and grain whiskies, selected from Glenburgie, Miltonduff, and around fifty other Scottish distilleries. Each whisky is aged separately before the final, expert blending takes place. Ballantine's itself would say that the only way to enjoy Ballantine's 12 Years is to have it how you like it. But you may wish to try a classic Whisky Mac, mixing Ballantine's 12 Years and a good Ginger Wine, either half-and-half or to taste, for a truly warming and delicious tipple.
