You will like to know that…

The master blenders of the distillery are responsible for the success of George Ballantine and Son whiskies: there were only 5 in the history of the distillery, and they are the only ones who know and pass on the recipe of this blended scotch Whisky, which consists of over 40 different cereals and malts.

With its rich, soft fragrance and taste reminiscent of honey, vanilla and milk chocolate, this whisky is unique.

The bottle bears the flag of the company, reminiscent of the Scottish flag and the 4 elements needed to make the whisky: Earth, fire, water and air.

Also unique is the shape of the bottle, simply rectangular to be easily hidden in cases where alcohol dealers were active at the time of the ban.

Description of Ballantine's

Ballantine's

TASTING NOTES:

  • Colour: Ballantine's has a light but warm golden hue.
  • Aroma: Heather, honey, and just a touch of spice.
  • Taste: Complex, soft, and slightly sweet, with a hint of vanilla, along with notes of milk chocolate and red toffee apple. A fresh, floral, and well-rounded warm finish leads you to take the next sip.

PRODUCER: Ballantine's is part of Pernod Ricard, within its prestigious Chivas Brothers whisky portfolio. The Ballantine's brand has come a long way, from its creation in Edinburgh by farmer's-son-turned-shopkeeper George Ballantine in 1827, to being globally-renowned and the best-selling whisky in Europe.

COUNTRY: Scotland

PRODUCTION DETAILS: Ballantine's has remained faithful to its original recipe, the ‘Finest', since 1910; as smooth and easy-drinking a blended whisky today as it ever was. That recipe brings together no less than fifty single malts, mostly from Miltonduff and Glenburgie, with four single grain whiskies. Ballantine's isn't known as ‘the spirit of the gods' for nothing. You can't go wrong with a classic ‘Finest and Cola', but why not branch out and try Ballantine's in a Maple Fashioned, a gorgeous Canadian twist on an Old Fashioned, using Ballantine's , a teaspoon of maple syrup, and an orange twist, on the rocks.

Whsiky view of the Month:
Color: Gold clear and bright.
Aroma: The entrance is a stroke of cheap cologne, very aggressive that makes you want to be as far away as possible from the drink, however, if allowed to take some time, that tone disappears and shows a more recognizable face with sweet notes of honey and florals. They are soft and they are also disappearing, but are appreciable.
Palate: Having missed some time to appreciate the nose, mouth entry does not generate the same rejection. The taste is strong and dry, with hints of oak and vanilla. Eventually, chocolate appears but does not become a bitter sweet but keeps air.
Final: medium-length, floral and pleasant enough.

4 /5

- Ballantine's Finest is a complex, refined and elegant blended scotch whisky.
- It is regarded as the taste to satisfy a modern style. The original flavour, complexity and refinement comes from more than 50 single malt flavours. The unmistakable Ballantine's flavour is dependent on these 50 single malts, 4 single grains and in particular the fingerprint malts from Miltonduff and Glenburgie.
- It is balanced because no one single component dominates.
- Colour: A light gold
- Nose: Deep with hints of spice
- Body: Rounded
- Taste: Well balanced with tones of chocolate, apple and vanilla followed by a gently floral finish
- Finish: Sophisticated after-taste gives a fresh floral glow.

A Scottish guy whose golden color blended unlikely to be more than it really is. It is however a very balanced aroma, and when tested, particularly accompanied by water (or ice) is smooth and gets fucked without too much trouble. A whiskey without any pretension. If a movie would be the typical American comedy where you laugh while you see it, but you forget that when it ends.
