You will like to know that…

As a product of a triple destillation and a maturing time of 12 years this whiskey from the so-called Lowlands is a true seducer. Its oustanding notes of almonds, toffee and citrics give this drop a nice and sweet texture. It can be proud of international recognition in the whiskey world. How to drink it best? Simply with some ice cubes or, whatever you prefer, in combination with Ginger Ale and some orange slices. A fabulous antagonist to the fashionable Gin Tonic.

Description of Auchentoshan 12 Year old

Auchentoshan 12 Year old

TASTING NOTES:

  • Colour: Amber mixed with light caramel
  • Aroma: A pleasantly complex nose that gets better with every breath. Dried wine and sherry notes initially compliment the nose. Toffee and autumn leaves then drift up from the bottle of this exclusive single malt. Smokey oak and dark chocolate can also be noted, adding to the agreeable aroma.
  • Taste: A malty sweetness intertwines with spiced oak to give this whiskey a smooth complexity. Unlike other single malts, this whiskey doesn't dominate the senses. Caramel brushes throughout the tasting, giving off a warm, sweet taste that remains delicate. Dark autumn fruits similar to sherry initially touch the mouth, followed by hearth oak.The scotch is great for an introduction to single malts. The blend remains smooth and classy without overbearing its audience. However, the light touches fit for a novice whiskey drinker don't hinder its complexity or full-bodied flavour.Smooth and light enough to drink neat.

PRODUCER: Auchentoshan.

COUNTRY: Scotland.

PRODUCTION DETAILS: Produced in the lowland mountains of Scotland. Auchentoshan is unique amongst Scottish single malt whiskies because they use a triple distillation process usually only common in Irish whiskies. Such a filtered distillation is what makes this whiskey smoother to drink. The whiskey is first taken from a 12 year old batch that's been aged in a variety of old sherry, wine, or bourbon oak barrels. Such an ageing gives the whiskey its fruity, earthy notes and likeness to wine. This scotch doesn't need too much ice or water to dilute its flavour. It will taste great with some prosecco to accentuate the sweeter tones.
