You will like to know that…

Choosing to name your distillery after "the elixir of life" is an excellent way to grab the public's attention. That is exactly what the world "amrut" means in Sanskrit. Founded in 1948 by Shri J.N. Radhakrishna, Amrut Distilleries Private Limited began its production by providing the Indian Army with Indian-made spirits. It is currently located in Kambipura, not far from Bangalore in southwestern India.

After six decades, Amrut Distilleries has now created a name for itself globally as a whisky producer. Amrut is a single malt whisky produced using barley grown in northwest India. This is then matured in new American oak and ex-bourbon barrels before being bottled. Due to the hot climate of India, the whiskies mature much quicker and are ready to be bottled after only four to five years of ageing while they must age for much longer periods of time in colder countries.

Amrut is a confident whisky that will surprise you will its richness. It smells of liquorice and honeycomb, which come across in the taste as well. The barley flavour holds its own as does the oak. Try this excellent single malt with spicy foods as it is not overbearing but also will not shy away from strong flavours.

- Nose: Distinctly confidant liquorice-bourbon notes with near perfect bitter-sweet balance; burnt honeycomb and toffee also abound.
- Taste: Outstanding richness and sheen to the enormous barley-oak sweetness; again there is a big bourbony cut to the cloth with all the liquorice and molassed sugar normally associated; but the barley adds that extra dimension.
- Finish: Long, wonderfully layered oak offering variations of a sweet dry theme; a touch silky with some cream toffee at the death.
- According to Indian Mythology, when Gods and the Rakshas - the demons - churned the oceans using mountain Menu as churner a golden pot sprang out containing the Elixir of Life. That was called the "Amrut" The great founders of the Distillery aptly named it Amut Distilleries.
- Amrut Single Malt Whisky is a product of 20 years research to produce Whiskies matching world standards. This Whisky is made from select Indian Barley grown up the feet of Himalayan matured by the water flowing there and cultivated by old & traditional agricultural practices. It is carefully mashed and distilled in small batches to preserve the natural aroma matured in oak barrels in an unique tropical condition, at an altitude of 3000 feet above sea level at Bangalore, the garden city of India.
- The whisky matures here by losing almost half its volume as "The Angel's share". This whisky - enjoyed as aperitf and as digestive has mild cloudiness upon dilution, which is matured for all classic malts. Amrut presents this product as a humble tribute to the Indian Farmer, who has grown this grain with care and affection with which he has tilled the soil. We hope as a connoisseur of all good things you will appreciate this fine product at your leisure.
