Wallis is the largest of the 6 Swiss wine regions. In this region, almost 60 different varieties are grown, but only 4 of them are used to produce 90% of the wines: Fendant, Pinot Noir, Gamay and Sylvaner.

Wallis produces about 125 appellations, the most prestigious of which: Fully, Conthey, Vetroz, Saint-Leonard and Salgesch.

Wallis is a glacial valley with a flat valley floor, and in many places extremely steep hillsides, with a very dry climate. The canton of Wallis is the pre-eminent winegrowing district in Switzerland.
