“The area of Angerville operates 12 hectares appellation Volnay 1er Cru and VIllage, including this small plot of 0. 45 hectare appellation Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets where the soil is poor and shallow and ideal exposure. After a difficult start due to frost, the beautiful summer yielded beautiful grapes with rigorous sorting and reduced volumes. The 2016 vintage offers a beautiful fruit with a lot of finesse, for a wine that will rather wait a few years and start enjoying around 2023-2025. . This wine is certified biodynamic whose Domaine Marquis d'Angerville began the conversion in 2006 and all chemicals were abandoned field since. “The Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets come from 0.5-hectare of vines replanted in the late 1990s, augmented by an acquisition by Guillaume d'Angerville in 2013 of vines adjacent to that original parcel. This now represents around one-third of the blend. The bouquet leans more towards red fruit with damp undergrowth/woodland aromas, a hint of iodine with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with a smooth and supple entry.”
