Description of Carpineto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva 2015
Carpineto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva 2015 (Prugnolo Gentile, Mammolo, Canaiolo and Montepulciano)
- View: Carpineto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva 2015 is a brilliant-ruby-coloured wine with a garnet rim.
- Nose: The bouquet of this wine is best described as ethereal and extraordinary. It is so elegant and intense, that aromas of violet, cedar, raspberries, currants, plums and charred wood are bursting out one after another.
- Mouth: On the palate this is a dry and harmonic wine, with a fruity and velvety character. It is a full-bodied wine, with high acidity, many ripe tannins and a long and velvety finish.
APPELLATION: Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano
GRAPES: 70% Sangiovese and 30% Canaiolo
AGEING: Ageing is done in large 5500 liter Slavonian oak barrels, and partly in French oak barrels. Barrel ageing is done for a minimum of two years. After bottling the wine is aged in temperature- controlled cellars for another 12 months before being released on the market. Altogether the wines are aged a bit longer than what Riserva wines are required in this appellation.
PREPARATION: The grapes are harvested manually. The maceration lasts between 10 and 15 days at a temperature range of 25-30 °C. Gentle yet frequent pump-overs are done to extract aromas and flavours optimally. When the fermentation is done the wine is moved to oak barrels.
PAIRING: The power that comes from this glass can only be tamed with some aged cheese, game or some wild boar meat.
RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: Carpineto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva 2015 should be decanted for at least an hour and then served at 20°C.
