You will like to know that…
Messias has been producing fine Portuguese wines for nearly a century. The company started out selling wines within Portugal itself, but before long it was exporting wines throughout Europe. Now, Messias is happy to export 65% of its production to five different continents around the world. With 200 hectares of vines dedicated to producing still and sparkling wines from six different demarcated wine regions, Messias is an exceptional Portuguese winery that, if you do not know it already, you ought to get to know.
Santola Branco is a Vinho Verde from Messias. This white wine is made using Loureiro and Pedernã grapes. The joy of a Vinho Verde comes from the age of the wine itself. Vinho Verde literally means "green wine" in reference to the young age of the grapes. This allows the fruity, sweet, and fresh aspects of the grapes to come through on the palate. The controlled temperature used during fermentation helps to ensure that the fruity flavour and aroma is not destroyed during the fermentation process.
This wine will not improve with age. It is meant to be enjoyed young and served cold. Intense, sweet, and pleasantly acidic at the same time, this wine is perfect to enjoy on a hot summer day with a side of fish or white meat. Its light, refreshing nature also makes it perfect to serve along with salads and cheeses or on its own as an aperitif.
