The Adega Cooperativa de Barcelos was founded in 1962 with just 51 members making up its ranks. Now the ranks have expanded to over 600 members, who represent a winemaking area of over 510 hectares in Barcelos and neighbouring areas of Portugal. The people who make up this co-operative are all local winegrowers who believe in the quality of their local wines, hoping to encourage the production and consumption of Vinho Verde both at home and abroad.
Adega Cooperativa de Barcelos Branco 2016 is a beautiful young Portuguese wine. This Vinho Verde is made using Loureiro, Trajadura, and Arinto grapes, resulting in a golden yellow wine with a notably fruity nose. All of these grapes are grown in the northwest corner of Portugal, in the demarcated Vinho Verde region. This is one of the oldest wine regions in the country, known for the light and refreshing young wines it produces.
An excellent example of a fine white Vinho Verde, Adega Cooperativa De Barcelos Branco 2016 is refreshingly acidic. This acidity is set off by a nice level of sweetness, resulting in a modern and easy-to-drink wine. Pair this refreshing wine with any light dishes, such as salads or appetizers. Best served cold, it is also perfect to enjoy over good conversation with friends.
