Elaboration of Le Grand Duc Reserve Carignan-Merlot
Le Grand Duc Reserve Carignan-Merlot (Carignan)
TASTING NOTES:
- View: Le Grand Duc Reserve Carignan-Merlot is a warm ruby red.
- Nose: Ripe red fruits with subtle notes of cinnamon and peppercorns.
- Mouth: Structured and robust, with fine tannins and a modern and fruity character, into a pleasantly spicy finish.
APPELLATION: Vin de France (Sud Ouest)
VINEYARD: Le Grand Duc is the label created by Le Bon Vin (LBV), one of the most respected wine merchants and suppliers in the UK. Begun in 1986 by a Frenchman and his English wife, LBV is the sole British member of Cavavin, the French buying group. This provides LBV with competitive access to the finest family-owned single-estate vineyards, allowing them to deliver high quality wines at accessible prices.
GRAPES: Carignan and Merlot.
PREPARATION: Le Bon Vin works closely with wine producers in Vin de France to craft this excellent red wine. Carignan-Merlot wine is relatively unusual. Merlot grapes are widely known and widely grown, but Carignan grapes are concentrated in the south of France. Carignan provides structure with its high acidity, colour, and tannins, and Merlot gives a smooth suppleness and rich fruitiness, together making a gorgeously rich, enjoyable wine suitable for the table.
PAIRING: Le Grand Duc Reserve Carignan-Merlot is particularly complementary to richer foods, such as beef, game, and spicy dishes. You might enjoy it with Rich Beef Stew with Parmesan Mashed Potatoes. You can also savour it alongside a rich or creamy dessert such as Tiramisu.
RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 15-18°C
