Vidigueira is a quiet and peaceful village located in the typical Alentejo plain, whose development throughout the centuries revolves solely around the quality of its wine. Around the orchards, vegetable gardens and respected wineries deambulates the spirit of the deep of Portugal and its unknown history. The land was granted in 1519 to the former sea explorer Vasco da Gama by the king, D.Manuel I, as a reward for his accomplishments, making him the first count without royal blood in the country. When it comes to wine, since the fifteenth century the respectable village's nectar has been adorning the A-list's tables.

TASTING NOTES: View: This wine has deep shades of ruby red with garnet lowlights. Nose: The mix of dark grapes in this wine provides this drink with a complex fruity aroma. Scents of red berries and fruits make up the bulk of this wine's scent profile. Hints of vanilla add an extra layer to its flavourful scent. Mouth: This wine has a smooth finish, despite its acidic nature. The fruity aroma gives away this wine's sweet flavour. Drinkers can expect flavours of red fruits and berries, such as cherries. Hints of vanilla add to this.APPELLATION: Vidigueira VINEYARD: This wine is made and sold by the Adega Cooperativa de Vidigueira, Cuba and Alvito, CRL. They source their grapes from the Alentejo region of Portugal. This area is famous for its hot summers and cold winters.GRAPES: Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, and Trincadeira. AGEING: The ageing of this wine is done at a controlled temperature between 26-30ºC. Since this is a red wine, customers can continue to bottle-age the wine before drinking it. PREPARATION: The three grape varieties used in this wine are all sourced from the Alentejo region of Portugal. While the Adega Cooperativa is secretive about their wine-making practices, we can assume they ferment their grapes with skins still on, as the wine has a dark red colour. The grapes are vinified and undergo the tanning process between the temperatures of 26-30ºC.PAIRING: This red wine pairs best with red meat, especially pork. Spiced meats also go well with this wine. RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16-18ºCALCOHOL: 13.5%
