Campari is a mythical drink. An emblem of Italian style, it is the basis for many cocktails made and consumed all over the world. A contemporary and charismatic classic that has not changed over time.
Description of Campari
- Colour: bright, almost maraschino cherry-red colouring.
- Aroma: Dozens of botanicals and flavours are used to make this alcohol, but what stands out most is the bitter orange scent accompanied with hot spice notes.
- Taste: Dozens of botanicals share the stage in Campari. Some of the botanicals that stand out the most include orange peel, rosemary, cassia, quinine, cinnamon, fennel, wormwood, orris, angelica, lemon, and angostura. All of these botanicals come together to provide this beverage with a truly unique flavour profile.
PRODUCER: The Campari drink and brand was created by Gaspare Campari in 1860, in Italy. A few years later, Gaspare opened his own bar, which helped to make his bitters recipe famous. Today, Campari is sold in over 190 countries around the world.
PRODUCTION DETAILS: Campari does not give away its secret recipe. In fact, the company will not even reveal how many botanicals are used. Rumour has it that there are anywhere between 50, 80, or even more botanicals used in each bottle! While we don't know how Campari makes their drink, we do know how bitters are usually made. A flavourless alcohol is infused with botanicals. In the case of this drink, there are possibly 80 unique botanicals!
