The trading house Henriques & Henriques was founded in the fifteenth century, in a small town called Camara de Lobos located 10 km. of Funchal, on the island of Madeira. Descendants of Don Alfonso Henriques, the first king of Portugal (1139-1185) and Count Henri of Burgundy who came to the island in 1090 from France. In 1850 is when the family Cossart took over the winery. In 1925 focus on the distribution of quality wines. In 1994 they created a new winery sophistication meets traditional preparation of Madeira wine and the most modern winemaking techniques. With its 17 hectares is the only winery owns vineyards in Madeira, in the last 10 years have invested more than 6 million in winery and vineyard.
