The Valpolicella Classico Superiore Giuseppe Quintarelli was born in vineyards located in the town of Negar, the magical terroir of Valpolicella. It is produced with Corvina, Rondinella and Cabernet, only harvested by hand. After a soft pressing, the grapes are fermented with indigenous yeasts for about 7-8 days. Then the wine is aged in oak barrels for 60 months before being bottled. This Valpolicella is characterized by a ruby red color. The nose opens with an intense spicy bouquet, enriched by pleasant hints of black cherry. The palate is intense, with a pleasantly tannic and flawless body. Perfect to accompany pasta dishes with meat sauce and roast, it is ideal in combination with stewed meats, game and aged cheeses.

The Valpolicella Quintarelli Valpolicella is not comparable to other programs on the market. This wine is with such dedication, passion, attention and above all made time that any comparison with other wines from the region falls short. The grapes are gently pressed directly after harvesting. After 3 to 4 days, the must undergoes the first fermentation with native yeasts. The wine develops very slowly and then in February to undergo alcoholic fermentation on the lees of the Amarone, the ripasso process. After several days, the wine turns into big Slavonian oak barrels ( "botti") to ripen here as around seven years. After bottling, the bottles remain for some time in the cellars of the company to be followed by the market. Valpolicella Classico Superiore shows delicate notes of small berries, Mediterranean herbs, dried sage and white pepper. On the palate, the wine is balanced and elegant with a fine and highly polished feel. This is the top among the Valpolicella of this legendary craft producer. Drink from 2019 at the earliest but can safely be reserved even 10+ years (but that is a shame !!).

I enjoyed it without pairing.
It's always good to share wine, but this one's special.

I bought it with my partner in a wine shop.
Cherry colour, high layer. The Quintarelli Valpolicella Classico Superiore exudes aromas of violets. Quite light, but was ok for my taste.
