Elaboration of Il Palagio Sting Roxanne Rosso 2018
Il Palagio Sting Roxanne Rosso 2018 (Merlot, Sangiovese and Syrah)
- View: This wine is lighter than most reds, having a red-pink hue.
- Nose: When first opening the bottle, drinkers are sure to notice this wine's intense fruity aroma. The primary fruit scents of this wine include cherries, red berries, and peach.
- Mouth: This wine is complex in many ways. It is highly acidic, bone-dry, and full of soft tannins. All of this makes for a unique tasting experience. Flavour-wise, this wine tastes of cherries, strawberries, peaches, and melon.
VINEYARD: The Il Palagrio Winery and vineyard is located in the Scansano region of Italy, near Tuscany. The soil is primarily accented with hints of limestone and sand. The beautiful Mediterranean coastal climate of this area gives the grapes wonderful growing conditions.
GRAPES: 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
AGEING: This wine was aged in a barrel for four months. However, as a wine mostly made up of Sangiovese grapes, it can be bottle-aged by customers for up to ten years and still retain its excellent flavour.
PREPARATION: All of the grapes used in this wine were hand-picked near the beginning of September. The grapes were then fermented at 24°C in large steel tanks. Finally, the wine was barrel-aged for four months before bottling.
PAIRING: This red wine pairs well with just about any vegetarian dish. However, it pairs best with tomato-based dishes, like pasta and soup.
