Vinhas de Rebordelo 2017 (Bastardo, Tinta Roriz and Trincadeira)
- View: For a young wine, Vinhas de Rebordelo 2017 is an intense magenta in the glass.
- Nose: There is a lovely aroma of fruit, including plum and strawberries, along with floral tones and a bit of spice. These sweeter smells are set off nicely by the aromas of coffee, minerals, and tobacco.
- Mouth: As this wine never sees the inside of a barrel, the flavour remains highly acidic and full of red fruit flavour. The tannins are soft and not overpowering.
VINEYARD: Adega Cooperativa do Rabaçal. This Portuguese winery lies on the parish of Revordelo in Bragança. This wine region, named Tras-os-Montes, lies slightly north of the more famous Douro region and east of the Minho region. The microclimate here offers different altitudes, amount of sunlight, rainfall, and temperatures than the neighbouring regions. The fashionable Bastardo variety of grape grows especially well in the Tras-os-Montes region due to the continental, dry climate. The soil is mostly made up of granite and slate.
GRAPES: Tinta Roriz, Trincadeira, Bastardo.
AGEING: As a young red wine, Vinhas de Rebordelo 2017 is unoaked.
PREPARATION: The grapes are harvested from the vines by hand. The winemaking then takes place in stainless steel vats at a carefully controlled 22ºC.
PAIRING: This wine is the perfect accompaniment for fish and cheese courses.
RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16ºC
