Around 1850, the medicinal effects of quinine, a substance that gives it its characteristic bitter taste to the tonic were discovered. Quinine, which comes from the bark of trees Quinio, was basic to prevent the British soldiers in the Indian acquired malaria. The big problem occurred when soldiers give their ration of quinine as it was so bitter that no one wanted to take. He proved to be mixed with water and sugar to disguise the taste. Some soldiers mingled with his service be prepared ration of gin and began to develop in early 1860 the first gin and tonics but light years ahead of the current, of course. Shortly after the tonic recipes were patented and passing gas was added to tonic water called as Indian or Indian Tonic Water.

The British company Fentiman's, founded in 1905, proposes his own recipe of tone adding to the formula two points that differentiate it: part of the carbon of the tone comes from the natural fermentation of botanists and that its flavors include a herb called lemongrass and difficult translation, which gives it a distinctive aroma and flavor.

In nose, Fentimans Tonic shows mild citrus and earthy notes of quinine. In the mouth, the carbon is thin and appears in the background. Predominate thanks to lemon citrus notes and lemongrass, which give it freshness. Feeling bitter finish is very nice and is well wedged between the sweetness and acidity of the tonic.
