Tokaji is a Hungarian wine which owes its name to the town of Tokaj about 200 km north-east of Budapest, near the Slovak-Ukrainian border. Proclaimed by Louis XIV "wine of kings, king of wines" Tokaji vineyard extended in 2006 on 5500 acres, it extended in the past on more than 7000 hectares.

The emergence of Tokaji wine is associated with the figure of the Hungarian countess Susana Lorantffy (1600-1660). Susanna was the wife of George I Rákóczi, Prince of Transylvania, who owned vast lands and vineyards.

For causes of constant wars against the Turks and German, they decided to postpone the harvest in November, which gave him the typical sweet taste wine Tokaji.
