Orestiadi Molino a Vento Nero d'Avola 2018 (Nero D'Avola)

TASTING NOTES:

  • View: intense red, violet reflections.
  • Nose: a large and elegant fragrance, mineral and berry notes integrated with delicate hints of cherries.
  • Mouth: a sweet attack, with soft tannins and well balanced. Fruity flavor, balanced, long and persistent.

APPELLATION: Sicily.

GRAPES: Nero d'Avola.

AGEING: After maceration, the wine is placed in French oak barrels where malolactic fermentation and lasts about 6-8 months.

PREPARATION: grapes harvested by hand in small boxes in the first ten days of September. The grapes are de-stemmed and transported to the winery with delicate systems to better preserve the integrity of the skin. The fermentation is conducted at a controlled temperature of 24 to 26 ° C and is characterized by remounting and amalgams.

WINE PAIRING: Red meats and cheeses.

RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 14-16 ° C

Molino a Vento Nero d'Avola Orestiadi is a wine produced with Sicilian native Nero d'Avola grapes grown on the Gibellina hills. The soils where there are the vineyards of Nero d'Avola are fertile and has clay-limestone composition that allow plants to synthesize good polyphenolic material, both as regards the coloring substances that structural compounds such as tannins. The Nero d'Avola is harvested around the beginning of September and brought to the winery for pressing, alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel containers for about 12-15 days at a temperature between 26 and 30 ° C . During maceration, numerous pump-over and delastage are repeated to extract color and aromas from the skins. After fermentation the Molino a Vento Nero d'Avola Orestiadi is placed in aging for 3-4 months in French oak barrels before blending and bottling.
