Lafou Els Amelers 2015is a wine that knows the value of the Garnacha Blanca, an indigenous variety of the Terra Alta grape which, when well-made such as in this case, proves addictive due its wonderful taste. Thanks to Ramon Roqueta's hard work on the grapevines planted over 40 years ago in gulleys (or gorges) where rivers and rapids use to flow, we are now able to enjoy this structured, pleasantly-textured wine with a zesty acidity and a nose that floods us with fruity wood, citrus and floral notes, and a touch of almond from the almond trees growing alongside the vines (and which give the wine its name). Highly recommended.

- View: a very pale but bright yellow.
- Nose: intense, fresh, citrus notes, vineyard peach, green apple and pear.
- Mouth: structured, active, elegant, powerful, balanced, good acidity, citrus notes and floral notes.

The 2015 Els Amelers is an old-vine Garnacha Blanca aged in contact with the lees for seven months, with only 10% of the wine matured in oak and 25% in egg-shaped cement vats. It was bottled some five months before I tasted it, but it still showed plenty of sulphur-reductive aromas, under which I could discern notes of fennel and aniseed, quite balsamic and moderately ripe. The palate is soft and caressing, with clean flavors, good balance and a pleasant slightly bitter finish. 15,000 bottles.View more

Has a very cheerful colour. I am no expert on flowers, but Lafou Els Amelers reminded me daffodil. You can feel it is very thick in the mouth.
