Description of Spice Route Chakalaka 2016
Spice Route Chakalaka 2016 (Carignan, Grenache, Mourvedre, Petite Sirah, Tannat and Syrah)
TASTING NOTES:
- View: cherry red color.
- Nose: clove, white pepper, plum and light touches of spice.
- Mouth: rich, full, smooth flavor with notes of oak and tannins integrated well balanced.
APPELLATION: Cape Town (South Africa).
VINEYARD: Spice Route.
GRAPES: Mourvedre (36%), Syrah (22%), Carignan (13%), Grenache (11%), Tannat (9%) and Petit Syrah (9%).
AGEING: Madura in barrels of French and American oak for 12 months before blending and bottling.
PREPARATION: The grapes are handpicked, de-stemmed and gently pressed. They are then fermented in open concrete tanks, then malolactic fermentation before maturing wine is made.
WINE PAIRING: Perfect to accompany South African dishes, meat oven, Asian dishes, sauces and grilled meats.
RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16-18 ° C
