Spier Wine Farm Creative Block 5
Description of Spier Wine Farm Creative Block 5
Spier Wine Farm Creative Block 5 (Petit Verdot)
- View: intense ruby red.
- Nose: aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, hints of cedar, black, chocolate fennel.
- Mouth: A vibrente palate with great balance and dense tannins.
VINEYARD: decomposed granite with clay subsoil located between 7 and 20 km from the cold Atlantic Ocean.
GRAPES: 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot 39%, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% and 3% Petit Verdot Malbec.
PREPARATION: The grapes were harvested by hand, precooled, despailladas and individually classified to remove unwanted berries. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks for up to three weeks. Malolactic fermentation and ripening was carried out in French oak barrels 300L for 18 months (60% first filling, second filling balance). Before mixing, the wines are individually developed to address the unique needs of each variety so that everyone could reach their full potential. Selective tasting barrels determined the composition of the mixture. Expert blending ensured harmony between five varieties. The wine has achieved the optimum balance between fruit volume palate, oak and tannin extract, all without losing the intimate quality and unique sense of place of each variety.
WINE PAIRING: oxtail simmered a pot of beef or truffle risotto with wild mushrooms grilled fire.
