TASTING NOTES OF Rustenberg Five Soldiers Chardonnay 2017:
- View: It's translucent. Brilliants flashes.
- Nose: citrus notes are perceived. Notes light peach and melon minerality.
- Mouth: A complex wine with a long creamy finish and good acid backbone.
APPELLATION: Simonsberg, Stellenbosch.
VINEYARD: Five Soldiers. Soil types decomposed granite, Hutton and Tukulu.
GRAPES: 100% Chardonnay.
AGEING: It is aged for 12 months in oak barrels.
PREPARATION: The harvest started a little earlier than usual, but it was 10 days later than the record. Careful use of irrigation to offset drought conditions and cold nights. Experience during the first four months of the year resulted in an excellent quality and a wonderful acidity, color and flavor concentration in wines. Indications are that 2017 will be a bumper crop with a lot of potential to age well.
WINE PAIRING: It is perfect with white meats like fish, also pastas and seafood.
ALCOHOL CONTENT: 13.5%
