Raats Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2017 (Chenin)
- View: light yellow.
- Nose: complex nose of quince, white peach, yellow apple, acacia, nettles, white pepper, fenugreek spices and intense minerality.
- Mouth: stone fruit character, limas, very delicate and exceptionally balanced, peach character, exquisite roundness and freshness, notes of ripe nectarine and apricot, lemon and spicy fine texture wet chalk.
VINEYARD: Three Stellebosch vineyards with an average age of 40 years. Floor natural combination of granite and sandstone decomposed dolomite Table Mountain.
GRAPES: Chenin Blanc.
AGEING: 50% of the wine aged in French oak barrels of 300 liters. After 9 months mixture of the two components left for another 2 months before bottling.
PREPARATION: 50% of the wine fermented in French oak barrels and the rest in stainless steel tanks to provide a crisp acidity and bright citrus flavors.
PAIRING: rich creamy mussels, smoked salmon, fish with beurre blanc sauce, pumpkin soup, mild Indian curry and tandoori chicken, Wiener Schnitzel and white Christmas turkey.
ALCOHOL CONTENT: 13.5%

- Pairs well with a variety of foods, but we recommend tempura prawns, a pear/walnut/rocket salad, roasted red pepper soup, spicy chicken wings and grilled halloumi cheese.
