Discover More About Our Products

Alfonso de González Byass is a delicious, dry oloroso wine. Full-bodied, balanced and with an intense aroma, it is tasty, harmonious and long in the mouth. Made using the traditional 'criadera y solera' system, it achieved a score of 90/100 in the Guía Peñín.

This will taste great over some battered anchovies, creme caramel, marinated dished and cakes.

Alfonso Oloroso Seco (Palomino Fino)

  • View: The Alfonso Oloroso Seco has golden amber color.
  • Nose: warm, rich aromas of dried fruits accompanied by woody and balsamic notes with a hint of vanilla typical of aging in American oak.
  • Mouth: Tasty, structured. It presents complex retronasal aromas and has a long permanence on the palate.

VINEYARD: Bodega Tio Pepe / Gonzalez Byass. Weather conditions that accompany the growth of grapes, are generally characterized by a mild autumn and winter. Spring brings periods of high temperatures and strong lift coinciding with flowering, while the summer is not too hot and has numerous dew days.

GRAPES: 100% Palomino Fino

AGEING: at least eight years in American oak casks in the traditional system of "Solera".

PREPARATION: The harvest begins in early August and the grapes must be transported quickly to lagares to prevent oxidation of the must. Once the grapes arrive at the winery are pressed gently. The juice obtained from the first pressing is known as "run juice". After fermentation, classification and fortification to 18%, wine enters the "solera", where it will stay an average of eight years in American oak casks. Finally, the wine is aged in contact with air which allows complete oxidation.

WINE PAIRING: It is suitable for red meats and game (meat stews or casseroles), mushrooms and cured cheeses.

The Winery

González Byass

González Byass

Gonzalez Byass was founded in 1835 when the young Manuel Maria Gonzalez Angel reached Jerez willing to take a place in the prosperous and thriving sherry business. Encouraged by the continuous development of exports, in the same year he acquired a small winery and started to produce and, finally, export sherry as well.
