Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, S.A. is a large, modern winemaking company that, with its total of 1200 hectares of vines, is currently present in seven Portuguese wine regions. Since there are only 14 wine regions in total, this is a great amount of coverage, so the company can get the best out of every region it has a stake in.
JP 2017 is a red wine from Azeitão, in the Setúbal region. From this peninsula on the southwest coast of Portugal come the Syrah, Castelão, and Aragonez grapes that give this wine its personality. Its bright red colour is something that will come through after pouring the wine into the glass since the elegant black bottle makes it impossible to see the colour of the product within. The care with which the three types of grapes for this wine are picked and vinified separately really comes through in the final product. The use of controlled temperatures ensures that the flavour and aroma of these grapes remain as true to nature as possible.
This fruity, easy-to-drink wine is perfect to enjoy alongside lighter fare, such as white meat or cheeses. It is also great on its own. The light flavour of this wine makes it a perfect option to be served at a cooler temperature than most reds. That makes it a good candidate for that hot summer dinner where you want to drink red wine but crave something cooler.
