You will like to know that...

Pegões is a Portuguese wine co-operative that was founded in 1958. Over the last 15 years, the winery has been undergoing a modernization project in hopes of improving both the quality and value of the wines it produces. The land in the Pegões area has the special characteristic of lying right in the middle of two estuaries. Over the centuries, the Tagus and Sado rivers have slowly been transporting rich sandy soil to the area. This unique soil, when married to the beautiful Mediterranean climate of the region, results in the excellent wines that make Pegões so special.

The co-operative is made up of 1117 hectares of vineyards, of which 70% are red and 30% white. Fonte do Nico Branco 2018 is one of the excellent white wines on offer from this winery. Made of a mix of Fernão Pires, Moscatel, and Arinto grapes, this soft white wine is unaged and processed in stainless steel vats to achieve a pure grape flavour.

The freshness of this wine on the palate is lovely. That freshness also makes this a fine choice to pair with fish, shellfish, or white meat. Also excellent with salads, this is the perfect wine to enjoy on a summer day or with a light meal. But, if you do not want to drink it now, Fonte do Nico Branco 2018 has excellent ageing potential. Store it for two years and see how the flavours evolve and mature over time. You will not be disappointed.
