Château Rieussec 2011

History of the Castle In the eighteenth century, the Rieussec estate belonged to the monks of the Carmelites of Langon. During the revolution, their lands were confiscated and sold as "national property" to M.Marheilhac. In 1855, during the Great ranking where Château Rieussec was dedicated 1er Cru Classé of Sauternes, the owner was Mr. Mayne since, many people have succeeded at the Chateau. It was only in 1984 that the current owners acquired the Château Rieussec: the Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite). Terroir Château The vineyard extends to the junction of Fargues and Sauternes, this is one of the largest Sauternes and Barsac properties. Harvesting is done in several successive sorting according grapes ripening condition and the evolution of ennobled. Note that production is low: the traditional reference is to a vine for a bottle of Medoc wine, but for Rieussec, it is closer to the order of a vine for a glass of wine . Note tasting of Château Rieussec to bottling (2011 Vintage) "Beautiful already intense golden color. delicately woody nose and then appear honeysuckle notes and acacia flower. The mouth is quickly ample, generous, where the liquor notes and freshness mingle. The fruit is discreet but the balance is perfect. In the final we find the length and persistence raised by a slight hint of bitterness, needed to wake up the flavors. "For more information: http://www.lafite.com/fr/les-chateaux/chateau-rieussec/

We drank it with appetizers.
I thought the Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite Château Rieussec Sauternes would be perfect for a romantic evening.

Over the centuries, Château Rieussec has changed owners several times until 1985 when it was bought by Baronss Domaine de Rothschild, which allowed him to go even further in the search for an increasingly high quality. The vineyards occupy one of the highest points in Sauternes, after those of Yquem, with a ghiaiso and calcareous soil. The yields of currently screws are less than 15 quintals per hectare. Sweet white wine, full bodied, fruity and spicy, aged at least 18 months in French oak barrels. From deep golden color presents a floral bouquet with fruity shades of peach, pear, green almond and apricot jam and a hint of spicy ginger cream. At palto it is soft, creamy and with great persistence

The sweet wines of Château Rieussec include in the Bordeaux Classification with the Premier Cru Classé ", which can only be surpassed by a Château d'Yquem. In 1855, this classification was determined, on the one hand to keep an appellation within limits , and on the other, to measure the prices of many wines from the Bordeaux region of their quality better. Carmelite monks in the 18th century, the owner of Château Rieussec. the Muscadelle has a very shutdown color. Roasted flavours.
To this sweet would have suit better a softer meat.
That sweet is perfect for special occasions.

Château Rieussec Bordeaux 2012
Its aromas remind me of acacia flowers. Very dense, unctuous.
This Bordeaux has a complex structure.
