Chateau Filhot produces wines of great character, that with proper aging develop unpublished notes in the same category. The creation of the vineyard is dated between 1630 and 1650. The castle was built in 1709 by Romain de Filhot (1641-1710), whose family already owned the noble house 'Verdoulet' in Sauternes. It was simultaneously replaced the old label 'Wine of Langon' with the introduction of the Sauternes appellation. In 1840, Romain-Bertrand de Lur-Saluces joined the vineyards of Chateau Filhot and Pineau du Rey in 1845 and rebuilt the castle in collaboration with the Architect Poitevin. The landscape architect Fisher contributed to the development of the large garden surrounding the castle. The vineyard was further expanded in 1970. The Château Filhot is a classic Sauternes where the freshness of the Sauvignon Blanc improves the character. Harvested by hand with successive passages through the vineyards. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures 50hl. 2 years aging in barrels and vats, bottling from 20 to 24 months after fermentation. If properly maintained can last several decades. amber color very rich. Toni saline and iodine, has rich mouth woodsy sensations and roasted, and a long finish.

The Château Filhot is located in the Sauternes appellation. The Château Filhot was created in 1709 by Roman Filhot, adviser to the Parliament of Bordeaux. It was sent to the current owner: Count Henri de Vaucelles. Vines and Château Filhot of the park are located on the southern slopes of the hill of Sauternes. The slopes face south or southwest and consist serious, clay and sand on limestone plateau. Bordered by the Landes forest and crossed by a small local river, the Ciron, domain Filhot benefits of micro-climatic conditions ideal for the development of "Botrytis cinerea" on grapes. The Château Filhot is part of the classified growths of the appellation.

Château Filhot Blanc 2012

"We tried to harvest at least 20 ° potential," says Gabriel de Vaucelles, which was achieved during the first two tries.
At this point, Filhot, low temperature fermentation in tanks and belted then still present a little reduced. But this character is fleeting and pretty fruit will win. Two thirds Semillon, Sauvignon a third, 25% new.

The truth is that we made the wrong pairing. The best company for Château Filhot is a good conversation.
Nice and pretty colour. I left the bottle opened for a couple of days and got spoiled.

Château Filhot Blanc 2010
I think that the winery makes some very dark color of whites wines. Scents of banana and pear something. The density of this wine is as an oil.
I used it alone.
Actually, I expected more.

Château Filhot Grand Cru Classé Sauternes 2010
This Château Filhot Grand Cru Classé Sauternes does not need food to accompany. Château Filhot Grand Cru Classé Sauternes is the first wine I drank with my parents.
The Château Filhot Grand Cru Classé Sauternes had a dark yellow colour. Clear memories of white flowers. A white wine who feels oily in the mouth.
