Description · Château d'Yquem

Château d'Yquem 375ml 1998 (Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc)

A straw gold to dark amber, depending on age. Marked fruit, apricot, tangerine, tropical fruit occasionally, oak, vanilla and toasty aromas. Honey, hazelnuts and quince. Very complex. Rich and unctuous feel nuts, dried apricot, plum jam, spices, cinnamon, saffron and liquorice, flowers sometimes. Generally a combination of fruit and acidity with notes of tangerine marmalade. Sometimes a bitter taste that contributes to harmony. Long and mythical endless.

Château d'Yquem 375ml 1998

375 ml bottle. Wines from Château d'Yquem are characterised by their complexity, concentration and sweetness. A relatively high acidity helps to balance the wine's sweetness. Another characteristic for which Château d'Yquem wines are known is their longevity. With proper care, a bottle will keep for a century or more. During this time, the fruity overtones will gradually fade and integrate with more complex secondary and tertiary flavours.

Château D'Yquem en Demi-Bouteille 375ml 1998

Attractive and intense colour. It tasted like a mouth-watering candy.
A 1998 goes fine with snacks.
It was served at a wedding.

Château d'Yquem

It was light but tasted like blackberries.
The best of it is the wood flavours.

Château d'Yquem 375ml 2003
Discovering Chateau d'Yquem stats with the bouquet. Although not always very outgoing in young vintages, it is marked by fruit (apricot, mandarin, and occasionally tropical fruit) and oak (vanila and toasty aromas). Older vintages, on the other hand, have extraordinarily complex fragrance as soon as the bottle is opened. The bouquet is amazingly suble, with hints of dried fruit (dried apricot, prune, stewed fruit, and marmalade), spice (cinnamom, saffron, and liquorice), and even flowers (linden blossom, etc).
The first impression of Chateau d'Yquem on the palate is always very silky, and often sumptuous. It then fills out, "coating the palate". This fine wine has a strong, but never overbearing character, with great elegance and poise. It always mantains a balance between sugar and acidity (sweetness and freshness). A touch of bitterness can also contribute to the overall harmony. Chateau d'Yquem aftertaste is legendary, and it tells another story, which lasts and lasts...
