Château d'Yquem 2004 (Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc)

TASTING NOTES:

  • View: From a straw gold to dark amber, depending on age.
  • Nose: Fruit checked, apricot, tangerine, occasional tropical fruit, oak, vanilla and toasted aromas. Honey, hazelnut and quince. Very complex.
  • Mouth: Rich and unctuous feel nuts, dried apricot, plum jam, spices, cinnamon, saffron and liquorice, flowers sometimes. Generally a combination of fruit and acidity with notes of tangerine marmalade. Sometimes a bitter taste that contributes to the harmony. Long and mythical endless.

Chateau D'Yquem 2004

At first sight it had an intense colour. The aftertaste lasted quite long.
It is better not to pair this with food, as otherwise its fabulous taste might not be appreciated adequately.
Friends, chat, Chateau D'Yquem. A perfect combination.

Superior!
Noble, Yquem is the unique Premier Cru Supérieur of Bordeaux.
The robe is gold colour, this wine is silky. The bouquet is saffron. On the palate, it is sweety. Yquem is more than "superior".

It is distinguished, and rich.
Bordeaux could not exist without Yquem.
2006 had an excellent crop.
Climate is good and soils are different and rich.

Our bottles come directly from Château d'Yquem

We had the great chance to taste this superbe wine en primeur at the château at the end of April. And we discovered an Yquem 2003 showing an induspitable superiority on all of the botrytised sweet white wines... even though 2003 is incredible for all of the Sauternes appellation.
Yquem is the perfect balance between all the elements that make a wine THE wine for eternity.Drink or keep: EternalDelicious with: Foie gras

Chateau D'Yquem Sauternes Premier Grand Cru 2002
Discovering Chateau d'Yquem stats with the bouquet. Although not always very outgoing in young vintages, it is marked by fruit (apricot, mandarin, and occasionally tropical fruit) and oak (vanila and toasty aromas). Older vintages, on the other hand, have extraordinarily complex fragrance as soon as the bottle is opened. The bouquet is amazingly suble, with hints of dried fruit (dried apricot, prune, stewed fruit, and marmalade), spice (cinnamom, saffron, and liquorice), and even flowers (linden blossom, etc).
The first impression of Chateau d'Yquem on the palate is always very silky, and often sumptuous. It then fills out, "coating the palate". This fine wine has a strong, but never overbearing character, with great elegance and poise. It always mantains a balance between sugar and acidity (sweetness and freshness). A touch of bitterness can also contribute to the overall harmony. Chateau d'Yquem aftertaste is legendary, and it tells another story, which lasts and lasts...
