Château D'Yquem 2003

The Château d'Yquem Sauternes born in vineyards located in the Gironde, south of Bordeaux. The Château d'Yquem is one of the premier cru included in the official classification of Bordeaux wines of 1855, the only Sauternes. This classification system was built by the Emperor Napoleon III for the Universal Exhibition in Paris, in order to make the best wines of Bordeaux even more recognizable outside the borders of France. The wines were ordered from first to fifth cru based on the reputation of the winery and the price, which at the time was a factor directly related to quality. Along with the other premier Grand Cru Classé is considered a legend that has made the history of vino.È produced primarily with grapes Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes, harvested in several stages, grape by grape, after the grapes left to dry in the plant, they were attacked by noble rot, Botrytis cinerea. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels for 2-6 weeks at a controlled temperature, with a stop on the lees for at least 6 months. The wine is aged for 20 months in oak barrels before being imbottigliato.L'annata 2003 was characterized by a warm climate from mid-May to reach record temperatures in August. This summer out of the ordinary, combined with the beginning of new arrivals 35mm of rain in September, resulted in a massive Botrytis attack that led to a very rare event: the entire production was collected in a single pass. Both stylish as atypical, says this vintage memories conditions that led to the first production of wines muffati Sauternes.Questo in the Sauternes region is characterized by an intense amber color. The nose opens with a complex and harmonious bouquet with fragrant aromas of dried apricot and candied fruits, accompanied by hints of honey, cinnamon, saffron and nougat. The palate is velvety and dense, full-bodied, with hints of honey and citrus peel a prelude to a final pleasantly speziato.Perfetto to accompany blue cheeses and aged cheeses, this dessert wine is ideal in combination with fruit tarts and pastries dry or cream.

Our bottles come directly from Château d'Yquem

We had the great chance to taste this superbe wine en primeur at the château at the end of April. And we discovered an Yquem 2003 showing an induspitable superiority on all of the botrytised sweet white wines... even though 2003 is incredible for all of the Sauternes appellation.
Yquem is the perfect balance between all the elements that make a wine THE wine for eternity.Drink or keep: EternalDelicious with: Foie gras

Château Yquem 2003

I opened this 2003 with a friend.
Deep colour at first sight. Warm taste in the mouth.
The best pairing would have been with fish.

Reviews about Château D'Yquem 2006

Noble, Yquem is the unique Premier Cru Supérieur of Bordeaux.
The robe is gold colour, this wine is silky. The bouquet is saffron. On the palate, it is sweety. Yquem is more than "superior".

It is distinguished, and rich.
Bordeaux could not exist without Yquem.
2006 had an excellent crop.
Climate is good and soils are different and rich.

Chateau D'Yquem Sauternes Premier Grand Cru 2002
Discovering Chateau d'Yquem stats with the bouquet. Although not always very outgoing in young vintages, it is marked by fruit (apricot, mandarin, and occasionally tropical fruit) and oak (vanila and toasty aromas). Older vintages, on the other hand, have extraordinarily complex fragrance as soon as the bottle is opened. The bouquet is amazingly suble, with hints of dried fruit (dried apricot, prune, stewed fruit, and marmalade), spice (cinnamom, saffron, and liquorice), and even flowers (linden blossom, etc).
The first impression of Chateau d'Yquem on the palate is always very silky, and often sumptuous. It then fills out, "coating the palate". This fine wine has a strong, but never overbearing character, with great elegance and poise. It always mantains a balance between sugar and acidity (sweetness and freshness). A touch of bitterness can also contribute to the overall harmony. Chateau d'Yquem aftertaste is legendary, and it tells another story, which lasts and lasts...

Château D'Yquem Blanc 2001
The best white wine in the world, probably the best vintage that still can be found, save practically eternal. What more could you ask for?
