Château d'Yquem 1988

Castle YQUEM 1988 Château d'Yquem 1988: A Grand Classic SauternesSeule property classified 1er Cru Supérieur 1855 Château d'Yquem is a legend in Sauternes and Bordeaux, but it is also one of the most famous wines and most prestigious in the world . His story is a historical fresco, made of twists and turns, moments of glory and difficult times. Even with his glorious reputation Château d'Yquem continues to promote modernity, authenticity and know-how to the quality of each of its wines is at the height of his nom.Même if Sauternes property produces bottles on quality vintages, 1988 stands out even by its unusual weather. Heat in the spring with a lot of moisture, flowering is delayed. The delay is not really caught up despite mild weather in July. The harvest begins in mid-October and the ideal time of the late season lets not rush to pick each bay to a perfect stage of botrytis. In the end, Château d'Yquem was born in 1988 after 6 tries exceptional spread until late November. The result is a great Sauternes while fullness of citrus marmalade aromas, honey, white chocolate or core with yellow fruit. Consume up to 2050 or more.

Reviews about Château d'Yquem 2006

Noble, Yquem is the unique Premier Cru Supérieur of Bordeaux.
The robe is gold colour, this wine is silky. The bouquet is saffron. On the palate, it is sweety. Yquem is more than "superior".

It is distinguished, and rich.
Bordeaux could not exist without Yquem.
2006 had an excellent crop.
Climate is good and soils are different and rich.

Reviews about Château d'Yquem 2003

Our bottles come directly from Château d'Yquem

We had the great chance to taste this superbe wine en primeur at the château at the end of April. And we discovered an Yquem 2003 showing an induspitable superiority on all of the botrytised sweet white wines... even though 2003 is incredible for all of the Sauternes appellation.
Yquem is the perfect balance between all the elements that make a wine THE wine for eternity.Drink or keep: EternalDelicious with: Foie gras

Chateau D'Yquem Sauternes Premier Grand Cru 2002
Discovering Chateau d'Yquem stats with the bouquet. Although not always very outgoing in young vintages, it is marked by fruit (apricot, mandarin, and occasionally tropical fruit) and oak (vanila and toasty aromas). Older vintages, on the other hand, have extraordinarily complex fragrance as soon as the bottle is opened. The bouquet is amazingly suble, with hints of dried fruit (dried apricot, prune, stewed fruit, and marmalade), spice (cinnamom, saffron, and liquorice), and even flowers (linden blossom, etc).
The first impression of Chateau d'Yquem on the palate is always very silky, and often sumptuous. It then fills out, "coating the palate". This fine wine has a strong, but never overbearing character, with great elegance and poise. It always mantains a balance between sugar and acidity (sweetness and freshness). A touch of bitterness can also contribute to the overall harmony. Chateau d'Yquem aftertaste is legendary, and it tells another story, which lasts and lasts...
