More about the WineryReviews of Château d'Yquem 1961
Our bottles come directly from Château d'Yquem
We had the great chance to taste this superbe wine en primeur at the château at the end of April. And we discovered an Yquem 2003 showing an induspitable superiority on all of the botrytised sweet white wines... even though 2003 is incredible for all of the Sauternes appellation.
Yquem is the perfect balance between all the elements that make a wine THE wine for eternity.Drink or keep: EternalDelicious with: Foie gras
The first impression of Chateau d'Yquem on the palate is always very silky, and often sumptuous. It then fills out, "coating the palate". This fine wine has a strong, but never overbearing character, with great elegance and poise. It always mantains a balance between sugar and acidity (sweetness and freshness). A touch of bitterness can also contribute to the overall harmony. Chateau d'Yquem aftertaste is legendary, and it tells another story, which lasts and lasts...
Noble, Yquem is the unique Premier Cru Supérieur of Bordeaux.
The robe is gold colour, this wine is silky. The bouquet is saffron. On the palate, it is sweety. Yquem is more than "superior".
It is distinguished, and rich.
Bordeaux could not exist without Yquem.
2006 had an excellent crop.
Climate is good and soils are different and rich.
