Salice Salentino is in the heel of the “boot,” Puglia, Italy in the Salento peninsula, between the Adriatic and the Gulf of Taranto of the Ionian Sea.
Salice Salentino is also a red Italian wine produced from the Negroamaro grape in the provinces of Brindisi and Lecce. The wine received DOC status in 1976.
Salice Salentino wines are mostly red, and the whites are made mostly from Chardonnay. Aleatico Dolce and Pinot Bianco are also sanctioned for use in the DOC wines.
