Elaboration of Choya Sake
Choya Sake
TASTING NOTES:
- Colour: Amber
- Aroma: The scent is authentically evocative of warm cooked rice underneath subtle fruity notes
- Taste: A smooth texture and dry taste similar to what to the scent alludes. Sake is traditionally served warm but can also be poured over ice. It is best paired alongside Japanese cuisine such as sashimi, teriyaki, and sushi. Best enjoyed young as it does not necessarily improve with age.
PRODUCER: Choya was founded by the Koya family in 1914. The company originally focused winemaking but made the decision to begin making Umeshu in 1959 and is now the largest producer of Umeshu in the world. Choya aims to create a variety of high-quality alcoholic beverages including fruit liqueur, brandy, wine, and sake.
COUNTRY: Japan
PRODUCTION DETAILS: Sake is an alcoholic drink from Japan that has been made for thousands of years, using rice as a base ingredient. Choya Sake 72cl was expertly created using locally grown non-GMO rice from the Nara province. The rice was carefully polished and then slowly fermented at low temperatures with soft mineral water from the same province special rice yeast called "Koji". This process creates a rich and rice-centric flavour in the final product.
ALCOHOL: 13.5%
