Château Lagrange 2015

Château Lagrange, the famous Grand Cru Saint-Julien, acquired this parcel of 18 hectares, located just 5 kilometers from the castle and in 2013 was the first vintage of this wine, under the aegis of the field team. On these clayey soils, Cabernet Sauvignon, which represents 70% of the assembly and Merlot (30%) express themselves perfectly to give a pure product with great elegance, especially in this great vintage 2015. The expressive nose of red fruits fresh with notes of clove and gingerbread and slight minty. On the palate, this wine offers a nice freshness with rich, silky tannins, and the promise of 10 years of aging at least. Find all the Château Lagrange wines on sale now at The Golden Bottle.

I bought it here at Uvinum.
Red intense cherry colour and very high layer. Smell like nuts, like it. Powerful flavour.

2015 - Non contractual picture. The color of this great Saint-Julien is dark with purple hues. The nose is very aromatic with elegant notes of black fruits, fine woody with a fade and discreet toasted. The attack, fleshy and large, still very elegant supported by ripe, velvety tannins. The finish is long range by racy Cabernet Sauvignon. A complete wine, complex and harmonious with strong aging potential: 2022 - 2040. Area Château Lagrange: The Château Lagrange is known in the Middle Ages under the name of noble house Lagrange Monteil and found traces of the various owners since 1631. in 1842, former Interior Minister of King Louis-Philippe, Count Duchâtel, marks both the property and the Médoc being the initiator of the drainage of the vines. It was the heyday of Lagrange in 1855 sees the rankings assign 3rd Cru position. The early 20th century is much less glorious as economic conditions deteriorate. Despite several changes of ownership, crops fail and low quality. Fragmentation is necessary because of this mess: 280 hectares in 1840, the field was reduced to 157 hectares when the Japanese group Suntory bought it in December 1983 to Cendoya family who owned it since 1925. Familiar with the world of wine and leader beverages in Japan, Suntory brings capital for the spectacular renovation of the field. Marcel Ducasse recruited for this purpose, headed from 1984 to 2007 the company successfully, accompanying a deep restructuring of operations. After over twenty years of work, human and technical investments, Lagrange regained its rank and recognition from his peers. In May 2007, Bruno Eynard succeeds Marcel Ducasse in the direction of Lagrange after having attended the technical direction for 17 years.

Reviews about Château Lagrange 2013

As every year, the assemblies are made in February, five months after harvest. This is most striking in 2013 is the high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. This strong trend that since the 2007 vintage wines are observed ensures a certain aging potential through a freshness and bright fruit. With 75% of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend is after 2000 vintage which has the most with the legendary 2010!
The Merlot is soft and fruity, the Cabernet Sauvignon is caractérisentpar racy tannins with great power, high accuracy and outstanding aromas of fruit. Small fleshy and powerful Verdot are also an asset to densify the wines this year.
Lagrange 2013 is a specific wine with classicism and elegance that characterize the great wines of Saint Julien.
Of this Château Lagrange, 2013, the selection has been draconian, to face a difficult vintage. This hard work has paid off, to give a wine of exquisite. It has soft tannins for a nice balance, very suave mouth. A final all in freshness, supple tannins.
Château Lagrange also produces a second wine Les Fiefs de Lagrange.
Other notation: Bettane & Desseauve: 16.5-17 / 20
Drink or keep: 2016 - 2021
PAIRING: breast dried Duck

Lagrange Saint-Julien 2016
Perfect to pair it with a lamb leg. To drink with friends.
Dark red tone and furthermore rather opaque. Clear notes of toffee. I noticed some good roughness in the mouth.
