It was in 1812 that Louis Despagne, from a family of sharecroppers in Cheval-Blanc, acquired the first plots in the locality "Grand Corbin." Currently, the Château Grand Corbin Despagne is still represented by François Despagne, the 7th generation Despagne.
In limit Pomerol appellation, Grand Corbin Despagne is north of the Saint-Emilion appellation. The planting of its 24 hectares is composed of 75% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Malbec.
The wines are aged for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels. The bottling is done 21 months after harvest.
The 2012 vintage offers fresh longer, thick but soft. It reveals a nice fruit that does not let dominated by wood. Grand Corbin Despagne is considered the best of its appellation Bio.

Reddish towards brown colour. Great aromas of coffee and wood. Sweet and fruity taste.

The name of Grand Corbin Despagne has been linked to the Saint-Emilion Terroir for over half a millennium: it is the name of a family and a place.
It is Paul Despagne, extraordinary winemaker, who gave Château Grand Corbin Despagne its nobility letters through the quality and the regularity of the wines he has been producing for more than 40 years.

In 2010 François Despagne began the conversion of his vineyard to organic culture (labelling in 2013).
The year 2011 expresses a distinctive nose with notes of cherry and cocoa more characteristic of a Pomerol than a Saint-Emilion. On the mouth it is spicy and presents an average fruit concentration. Its volume is round and well balanced. The length is ample and its tannins are tight but fine giving the wine a nice ageing and cellaring potential

Perfect to pair it with a lamb leg. My friends loved Grand Corbin Despagne Saint-Emilion.
The Grand Corbin Despagne Saint-Emilion offers wonderful tinges. It disclosed a very nice smell of white roses. In the mouth it it tastes like licorice.
