In 1959 during the Cuban Revolution, the producers fled the island and moved to the Dominican Republic. Some years later they decided to reopen their distillery hoping that the old brand name survived. For years now they are creating a classical Spanish Caribbean rum, which is equally served neat or in cocktails.
COUNTRY: Dominican Republic.
PRODUCTION DETAILS: Matusalem Solera 7 Year old 1L was created from a sugarcane juice, by a process of fermentation and distillation. The distillate was aged in Solera system, an ageing process typical for Sherry and Brandy production. This means that as each batch is bottled, the casks are topped up with spirit from the next-oldest cask, thus ensuring consistency of flavour. The rum is 7 years old from the time it was distilled until bottling is done. The bottling is done without chill filtration or added colour.
